Purpose

The purpose of the Project Mandate is to provide information about the Project Outline to the Executive Board and the Project Manager. The Project Mandate:
  • Is the trigger for a project
  • Can be variable in depth, scope and form. Ranging from casual conversation to full fledged feasibility study
  • Is the authorization for pre-project activities
  • Describes the reasons behind the project initiative and the proposed project results
  • Identifies key stakeholders
  • Provides an initial assessment of the scope of the change
  • Identifies any dependencies or constraints that will impact on the delivery of the project result
  • Identifies any top level known risks and other issues associated with this project result
  • Provides a statement on the strategic fit of the project result
  • Proposes a business priority for the project result
  • Identifies the high level benefits the project result will deliver
  • Provides indicative costs of the proposed project result
  • Identifies the business impacts of the project result.
